Vern & Sherryl Houle — Owners/operators since 1986
25 years ago, Vern and Sherryl had a vision of independence and success in the safety systems world. This vision grew as the company grew. Through the rest of the 80’s and into the 90’s our focus continued to evolve to finally include the health care industry. Through trial and error, we tapped into a market with the use of products that we believed in, to great success. Paving the way into integration through innovative uses, the end products being of cutting edge technology. Working together as a team through the beginning years proved to be a strengthening aid to the company itself. In 1989 when their first child was born, Sherryl took a step back in full time involvement with Firetec to focus her attentions on being a mom, while Vern forged ahead to break ground in the security world.
Over the years we have developed and marketed some of the most innovative life safety systems for senior care retirement homes in western Canada. We have successfully installed man down Spider Alert in 5 prisons in the US. Development and integration of “ease of use” innovative products and solutions has led us to considerable success in this market place. Future focus: continue to market advanced wireless communication systems in senior residences with additional expansion into the oil and gas industry. Primary focus will continue to be “ease of use” life safety systems, products and solutions.
After 27 years together as a married couple, and 25 years supporting each other in the running of Firetec, we are proud of the inroads and successes we’ve been able to create and witness with the support of the team of employees who each offer their own expertise and support in these successes.
