How Elpas Nurse Call Works

Patients are issued Elpas Active RFID Pendants or Wrist Bands that feature wireless call functionality. In the event of an emergency the patient simply presses the device’s call button.

A fixed Elpas Ethernet/Wi-Fi Infrastructure installed throughout the facility  receives the patient’s emergency call  and  relays this location& ID data to the Eiris Tracking & Management Platform.

Eiris nurse stations display the real-time locations of the patients requiring assistance, graphically overlaid on hospital floor plans and provide interactive screens for managing the lifecycle of  the received patient calls. Eiris also supports robust alert and paging options thatdelivers the patient’s call, 24hrs-a-day to the right responder no matter where the caregiver happens to be.

Field-Tested RTLS Integration Solutions

Elpas also has field-tested, RTLS Integration Solutions for your pre-existing or new nurse call systems. Adding the real-time ability to identify the precise location of the patient requiring assistance or finding the nearest qualified medical responder with room level and sub-room level precision is a great example of how Elpas RTLS functionality can reduce medical staff response times. EZ Key™

Wireless resident key and door access control with built-in help button.

Like keys to a house, this is an easy solution that allows residents regular movement and independence. It’s remarkably simple. Equip each resident with a wireless key that fits on any keychain, wear it as a pendant or even a bracelet. Without being taken out of a pocket, doors the resident is allowed to pass through will open by proximity, up to 15 feet away.

The EZ Key™ allows wheelchair-bound residents hands-free, unsupervised movement. It opens doors the resident is welcome to enter, such as an exercise room.

Like all our technology, the EZ Key™ has a built-in wireless help button that works anywhere within the facility and grounds. The discreet emergency alert will summon immediate assistance, in any manner the facility desires—text, email, phone, pager—also reporting the resident’s location.

Residents appreciate the idea they can lock their own rooms so that only authorized nursing staff and their own EZ Key™ will open the door. This prevents other patients from wandering in, and offers a sense of security for a resident’s personal space and possessions.

Our big-button telephone, EZ Dial™, is remarkably easy to use considering it’s really a sophisticated emergency communications system with two way voice integrations. The commercial-grade speakerphone answers five preset numbers automatically. It has three programmable emergency keys and is fully integrated with all of our EZ Care technology.

Let’s take a look at this common nursing home scenario. Mrs. Miller, an elderly resident, stumbles and falls on route to the washroom. She pushes the help button on her EZ Key™ pendant. A text message goes immediately to her nurse, Sue. Sue calls Mrs. Miller on her room phone, the EZ Dial™, sitting beside the bed. Mrs. Miller can’t get to the phone, but that’s okay.

The speaker phone answers automatically. With a very sensitive microphone, the nurse hears Mrs. Miller crying for help and rushes to the room. If Mrs. Miller is in a different room, that’s no problem. Her location is automatically reported with the distress call. As an added feature, residents can use the phone to check the daily menu or activities list with one button touch.
